Grid screening and capacity estimations

We use in-house tools to assess grid capacity across both transmission and distribution, incorporating the impact of CP2030. This includes PV, BESS, BEV charging, data centres and hydrogen electrolysis sites. Outputs can include whole GSP estimates as well as individual primaries and bulk supply points.

Site feasibility assessments

If you have a prospective site for a renewable project, we assess its feasibility and advise on risks, opportunities and overall viability, taking into account the current industry dynamic, including CP2030, attrition and other relevant pathways.

CP2030 impact assessments

We assess how CP2030 may affect a project by reviewing attrition levels across TO and DNO zones, together with queue formation and competitor planning status. This helps determine whether a project is likely to remain viable over the longer term.

Single project queue analysis

We provide high-level analysis of a project’s progression opportunity under different attrition scenarios. This can help identify how much movement may be required for a project to secure a more favourable connection position at an existing GSP.

DNO grid applications (G99)

We prepare and submit updated G99 applications to the DNO on behalf of clients, including managing return queries and supporting a competent application process throughout.

Transmission / BEGA applications

We support direct transmission and BEGA applications for both generation and demand projects. This includes completion of the relevant DRC schedules and follow-up on any subsequent queries.

Grid offer due diligence

We review grid offers issued by the DNO or NESO across all key aspects, including technical limitations, costs, connection date and acceleration opportunities. Our reports provide a detailed breakdown of the offer, together with a clear list of actions and next steps.

Portfolio acquisition due diligence

We provide due diligence across wider portfolios, combining project-by-project review with summary reporting to support acquisition decisions and prioritisation. This can include RAG status reporting alongside more detailed technical assessments and advice on next steps.

Single Line Diagram (SLD) Engineering

We develop compliant Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) essential for securing DNO (G99) and NESO approvals. Our designs act as the technical “source of truth” for your project, detailing protection zones, isolation points, and equipment ratings. We ensure your electrical architecture is optimized for both grid compliance and operational reliability.

Pre-FEED and FEED Support

We provide end-to-end engineering support, from initial Pre-FEED conceptual SLDs used for feasibility and budget estimation, through to detailed FEED blueprints. Our FEED-stage documentation provides the high-fidelity technical specifications required for EPC contractor procurement and final G99/NESO compliance.

Route to Market Assessments

We identify and evaluate over 20 different market revenue opportunities, including DSO services, NESO services, and auxiliary markets. Our assessments provide a detailed RAG (Red-Amber-Green) analysis of potential markets, entry requirements, and blockers to entry, ensuring your asset is positioned for maximum commercial value.

Grid Supply Point (GSP) Technical Limits Assessment

Leveraging deep industry expertise, we produce high-fidelity technical limits reports at the Grid Supply Point. This includes a half-hourly assessment across a five-year horizon from project energisation, providing critical visibility into the operational constraints and technical boundaries of your connection.

Transmission and Distribution Curtailment Analysis

We provide bespoke curtailment modelling for both transmission and distribution networks, a core specialist area for DEC. By analysing fault data and varying attrition scenarios, we produce half-hourly curtailment profiles that provide a realistic and robust view of your project’s long-term exposure and export profile.

Grid and Planning Data Automation

We deploy proprietary automation tools to provide live notification services for changes to Transmission Entry Capacity (TEC) and the Embedded Capacity Register (ECR). Additionally, our planning portal automation tracks significant project movements and competitor activity across all UK planning authorities, providing you with a critical edge in site origination and queue management.

G99, G74, and G5/5 Compliance Studies

We provide a comprehensive suite of compliance studies required for both Distribution and Grid Code connections. This includes G74 Fault Level Analysis to assess equipment ratings, G5/5 Harmonic Assessments to ensure power quality, and full G99 technical compliance reporting to secure final operational notification (FON).

Load Flow and Harmonic Studies

Using industry-leading software such as DigSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, and PSCAD, we perform detailed load flow assessments. We model your asset’s reactive power capability to ensure it meets the P-Q envelope requirements of the DNO or NESO, optimizing transformer tap settings and cable sizing.

Fault Ride Through and Rotor Angle Stability

We conduct advanced dynamic studies, including Rotor Angle Stability and Fault Ride Through (FRT) analysis. These studies ensure that your generation or storage asset remains stable during system disturbances and meets the stringent dynamic performance criteria required for larger Type B, C, and D power generating modules.

Arc flash Assessments

We perform Arc Flash Assessments and protection coordination studies to ensure site safety and equipment longevity. We define relay settings and protection boundaries that minimise downtime and ensure selective isolation during fault conditions.
